Dear JCL/Latin Club Sponsor,

In the past few years we have seen a rapid decline in the ranks of SCJCL.  Fewer and fewer schools are registering with JCL.  Fewer schools are participating in State Forum.  I am appealing to you to help reverse this trend.  JCL is an important part of the Latin student’s experience in high school and helps encourage students to continue in their Latin programs. If you have not already registered with the national (NJCL) and state (SCJCL) organizations, I urge you to do so. Forms for both organizations are available on line at www.njcl.org and www.scjcl.org respectively. The form for Forum is shown below. Please mail state forms and Forum registration forms to Sarah Seaman, 314 South Walker Street, Columbia, SC 29205.  Checks should be made out to the South Carolina Junior Classical League. State Forum this year will be on March 20th at Dreher High School in Columbia. If you are registering your club with SCJCL and registering for Forum at the same time, all fees may be put in one check.

Costume themes will be:

Each school is allowed one girl, one boy, and one couple. Please place a check mark beside the contests your school will enter.

Certamen will be held if sufficient teams are available.  Please indicate how many teams you will enter.  Each school may enter one team on each level.  Each team should consist of 4 players plus one alternate in case of a student illness.

All of the above must be on a classical theme. No kits or premade objects may be used.

Registering schools will receive a map and travel instructions along with a receipt. Lunch will be provided and is part of the registration fee.
